The photographic competition “Where is the green in Juniper Green?” ended on October 31st 2011. There were entries in 3 of the age categories with surprisingly none in the 16-18 year old age section, a great pity with such generous prizes on offer. However, the adult category has attracted a large number of excellent entries so we expect that the judges will have their work cut out to declare winners in that section.
The judges are set to meet in the middle of this month and the winning entries will be announced after the next CC meeting on November 23rd.

Planting around the Juniper Green monument on the corner of Belmont Road and Baberton Avenue has been underway in the last few weeks by pupils and teachers at Juniper Green Primary School. The planting has been supervised by Mrs Nan Henderson who has displayed both her gardening skill and her expertise as a retired teacher in re-organising this small area of greenery in our village. The children have planted junipers, bulbs and rosa rugosa in an effort to improve the look of the site especially in Spring time.

In an effort to highlight its environment JGCC is organising a photographic competition this Summer/Autumn. The competition is in four age groups: up to 12 years old, 13-15, 16-18 and over 18 with your category defined as your age on 1st July 2011.
The competition is entitled “Where is the green in Juniper Green” and each age category carries 3 cash prizes of £50, £25 and £10. The winning 3 entries in each age range will then form a calendar for 2013 which JGCC will sell at events throughout 2012 to raise funds for the community.
