JGCC currently consists of seven individual members – who are each elected for a period of three years – plus ’nominated members’ from Juniper Green Parish Church and the Friends of Curriemuirend Group. Any organisation which is active in the local community is welcome to approach the City of Edinburgh Council with a view to becoming represented on JGCC and we would welcome further members.
Members of the community council work, or have worked, in fields such as town planning, education, healthcare and business, public service and give the community free use of their time and expertise. JGCC expects to be particularly active in challenging controversial planning and licensing proposals, often with reference to regulations arising from Juniper Green’s status as a Conservation Area. It is also likely to be concerned with other issues affecting the amenity of the area. With the establishment of the new Neighbourhood Partnerships (NPs), members of the community council also have the added responsibility of attending meetings of the Pentlands NP.
